How to Calculate SGPA
- For each subject, multiply the grade points by the credit hours
- Sum all the (Grade Points × Credits) values
- Sum all the credit hours for the semester
- Divide the total from step 2 by the total from step 3
Example Calculation
If you have three subjects:
- Mathematics (4 credits): Grade A (8 points)
- Physics (3 credits): Grade B+ (7 points)
- Chemistry Lab (2 credits): Grade A+ (9 points)
Calculation:
SGPA = [(8×4) + (7×3) + (9×2)] / (4+3+2) = [32 + 21 + 18] / 9 = 71 / 9 = 7.89
